Country singer Gabe Garcia arrested, accused of DWI

SAN ANTONIO -- San Antonio police arrested country singer Gabe Garcia early Thursday after he was accused of driving while intoxicated on the city's northwest side.

Garcia is a country singer from Lytle and a former runner-up on the reality show Nashville Star.

According to an arrest warrant, a San Antonio police officer stopped Garcia on Loop 410 around 3:30 a.m. The officer reportedly saw his car veer to the left and nearly cross over the shoulder line.

The warrant also states Garcia's vehicle was traveling 75 mph in a 65 mph zone.

Garcia reportedly told the officer he had four drinks and two "Vegas bomb" shots at the Thirsty Horse Saloon since 9 p.m. Wednesday.

The warrant also states he changed his story and later said he had only two drinks.

Garcia's blood was also drawn to determine his blood alcohol concentration level, according to the warrant.

Garcia was being held at the Bexar County central magistrate's office Thursday morning, and was awaiting an appearance before a judge.

He faces a misdemeanor charge of driving while intoxicated.
