Following dramatic revelations about massive credit card fraud at national retailers Target and Neiman Marcus, the Michaels chain of crafts stores on Saturday revealed it may also have been a victim of "possible fraudulent activity."
"We are concerned there may have been a data security attack on Michaels that may h ave affected our customers' payment card information," said Chuck Rubin, CEO of the Irving-based company in a letter to customers. "We are taking aggressive action to determine the nature and scope of the issue."
Rubin urged Michaels' customers to review their account statements for any unauthorized charges.
Michaels has 23 locations in North Texas and more than 1,100 stores in the United States and Canada.
