COPPELL — A Coppell family found out their insurance will not help with a growing problem.

Their backyard is disappearing because of a sinkhole that formed two days after the ice storm earlier this month.

Their insurance policy states the house, pool and retaining wall are "covered." Since the root cause of the problem was earth movement, it will not be covered, according to the policy.

"We are shocked that it is not covered," said homeowner Grayson Wales. "We suggest that people read their policy carefully and just ask questions before you sign and have that peace of mind that you will be protected."

Allstate Insurance said it is policy not to cover situations like this, calling it an "uninsurable risk."

Repairs are estimated at more than $100,000.
