Arlington has long been recognized as the largest U.S. city without public transportation.
That ends on Monday, when a new commuter bus service begins rolling.
Metro ArlingtonXpress — MAX — is a two-year pilot program. The route runs from the University of Texas at Arlington campus to the Trinity Railway Express CentrePort stop in Fort Worth, south of Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport.
Riders can hop a bus between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m . Monday-Friday. An all-day ticket is $5, discounted to $2.50 for the elderly and disabled.
The Arlington bus stop is at the southwest corner of UTA Boulevard and Center Street, where free parking is available across the street. The bus goes directly to the Trinity Railway Express CentrePort Station without any intermediate stops.
MAX says a third stop near the Arlington Entertainment District is being considered for a November launch.
