DALLAS — After recently announcing same-day shipping in Dallas, Amazon has revealed Dallas residents can now receive packages on Sunday.
It's an option they hope will appeal to busy parents and students in want of swift convenience.
"So far, the most common items delivered on Sunday include baby supplies such as newborn apparel, books and toys — Sunday delivery is clearly crossing errands off the weekend to-do list," said Mike Roth, Amazon’s vice president of North America operations in a news release. "We know our Amazon customers love the convenience of everyday delivery, and we’re excited to be offering Sunday delivery in more cities across the U.S."
Among other Texas cities to receive the service are Austin, College Station, Houston, San Antonio and Waco. The online store was already sending Sunday shipments to New York and Los Angeles and is expected to announce more eligible cities throughout the year.
Amazon Prime members can place their order as late as Friday to be eligible for the Sunday service, which is delivered by a U.S. Postal Service employee under their free two-day shipping benefit that comes with membership.
Packages will be delivered through USPS.
Prime membership costs $99 a year and also includes other benefits such as video streaming, free shipping and other discounted offers.
Amazon also recently announced Amazon Locker, which allow shoppers to pick up orders on the same day without shipping costs.
