DALLAS - The death of a 38-year-old male with no underlying medical conditions has been confirmed as Dallas County's thirteenth H1N1 related death, the Dallas County Health and Human Services reported Tuesday.
The identity of the male was not released.
Tarrant County also announced Tuesday that the death of a woman in her 40s was also due to complications from H1N1. It has not yet been released if she had any underlying health conditions.
Plans for Dallas County public vaccinations will be detailed at a press conference at 2 p.m. Wednesday, DCHHS wrote in a statement.
H1N1 vaccinations will be given at the Thomas Coliseum in Haltom City Friday. Health officials held a rehearsal for the drive-thru operation Tuesday.
"It's practice for everyone to know how it flows, what you can handle," said Anita Colbert, a Tarrant County public health spokeswoman.
Tarrant County has 3,000 doses available, which are to be given to pregnant women and high risk children.
Haltom City police will handle security, but they hope to have a lot of help.
"We'll have plenty of our personnel there," said a Haltom City police spokesman. "We've requested assistance from the Texas State Guard and also from the county. We will put those people in positions we feel are strategic for the safety of the public."
Beaumont health department officials say a 5-year-old Jefferson County child has died of complications from the H1N1 virus.
A statement from the health department said the unidentified child died Tuesday afternoon in a Houston hospital after being ill for about a month.
It's the first reported death caused by swine flu of a Jefferson County resident.
