SUNNYVALE — A pickup truck crashed into a watery ravine near Belt Line and Tripp roads around 9 o'clock Tuesday evening. Efforts were under way to rescue one person from the vehicle.

Emergency personnel from Sunnyvale and Mesquite were helping with the recovery efforts in North Mesquite Creek.

Initial information indicates that the driver of the truck was speeding, lost control, and careened into the culvert.

Salvage crews trying to remove the pickup truck from the water later ran into problems when the tow truck's cable snapped and the vehicle went back into the water.

Efforts to recover the truck were put on hold until daylight.
