American Airlines and its ground workers could be closer to new contract terms. The Transport Workers Union says it expects the bankrupt airline's last, best offer in writing "very soon."
On Friday, the TWU released details of a proposal by US Airways, the Phoenix-based carrier that wants to merge with American. Its deal could save 3,500 of the 8,500 jobs that American has slated for cuts.
The US Airways agreement only goes into effect if it does merge with American.
