American Airlines says it needs more time to file its reorganization plan with a federal bankruptcy court.
AMR Corporation, the airline's parent company, filed a motion for an extension on Tuesday.
Currently, AMR is facing a December 28 deadline, but the company is asking for an extra month.
American said the additional 30 days will give the carrier more time to negotiate with the Allied Pilots Association. The APA is the only union without a new contract agreement.
