The wait is on for word on whether the NFL and the NFL Players Association can reach a deal and avoid a lockout.

Cowboys coaches said they have workout schedules ready if the lockout does not happen.

If the lockout does happen, players will be barred from the club's Valley Ranch practice facility starting Saturday.

Players will not be able to speak to the coaches or anyone associated with the club. The only exceptions will be events like a wedding or anniversary party.

Coaches have already spoken with players about what is expected of them. Team members will each be responsible for staying in game shape. Tony Romo said if a lockout happens, he will hold some informal workouts.

Owner Jerry Jones, who is at the bargaining table, is not talking.

"We can't comment, even more so, certainly still involved right now, so there's no comment," said Jones.

The clock is ticking for the NFL and the NFL Players Association to reach a deal on a new labor contract. The deal expires at midnight Thursday.
