FORT WORTH — American Airlines said Wednesday it plans to hire or bring back 2,500 pilots over the next five years.

American made the announcement as it tries to cut a new deal with its pilots union and emerge from bankruptcy.

The airline plans to expand capacity at several hubs, and to add new international flights.

Two of those new international routes start next year. Flights from Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport to Lima, Peru launch on April 9.

The carrier will add non-stop service from D/FW to Seoul, South Korea one month later, on May 9.
