Denbury promotes executive to COO job

PLANO, Texas (AP) — Denbury Resources named Craig McPherson as senior vice president and chief operating officer Friday.

McPherson, 53, became senior vice president for production operation at Denbury in May 2011. He had been with ConocoPhillips for the 30 years prior, most recently serving as general manager of its Gulf Coast business.

Denbury also named Charlie Gibson, formerly vice president of its west region, as its senior vice president for planning, technology and business development. Gibson, 53, joined Denbury in 2002 after a more than 20-year career in the oil and natural gas industry.

In addition, Matt Elmer will join Denbury to fill Gibson's former role. Elmer, 52, has over 30 years of industry experience and most recently served as operations manager for ConocoPhillips' San Juan business.

Shares of Denbury Resources Inc. fell 9 cents to $13.61 in morning trading. They have traded in a 52-week range of $10.20 to $21.37.
