NORTH RICHLAND HILLS — Neighbors in North Richland Hills said they heard a loud "boom" before a house caught fire, injuring three contractors who had been working with paint thinner.
When the first emergency personnel arrived at the home in the 8000 block of Arlie Lane, two of the workers had jumped in the swimming pool to put out the flames; the third was dousing himself with a water hose.
Two of the workers suffered severe burns to more than 80 percent of their bodies. They were rushed by helicopter ambulance to the burn unit at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas for treatment.
The third worker went to Parkland via ground ambulance. No names or conditions were released.
