DALLAS -- The streets of downtown Dallas were packed Thursday morning as an estimated 40,000 people participated in the 42nd annual YMCA Turkey Trot.
There were riders and runners, young and old. But not everyone was happy about the event. Many drivers got stuck on roads that were blocked off for the race.
"We were in the 5K part of the Turkey Trot, and eight miles is in front of us," one driver said. "We're inside the loop and we cannot get home."
It's believed the run originally started in the early 1940s at the old fairgrounds with 114 people, and really started gaining popularity in the 1960s.
