DALLAS - Four teens were transported to nearby hospitals after the car they were riding inside struck a curb, sending it out of control and into a tree in the backyard of a home in the 2500 block of Scammel Dr. in East Dallas.
One male was ejected from the black Ford Expedition and a female occupant became trapped inside the mangled vehicle, according to Officer Monica Cordova, a spokeswoman with the Dallas Police Department. All four occupants, who Cordova said were from Skyline High School, were critically injured in the crash.
Three males were transported to Baylor Hospital. The female was pulled from the vehicle by Dallas Fire-Rescue and transported by CareFlite to Parkland Hospital.
Joann Brewer, a neighbor who rushed to the scene after witnessing the crash, said one of the boy's lost his arm in the crash.
Dallas police said their initial investigation indicates speeding may have played a role in the crash.
The teens were confirmed to be two 10th grade students and two 11th grade students.
