DALLAS - A Dallas athletic shoes store will have to close its doors temporarily after an early-morning smash and grab Wednesday.

Thieves rammed a pick-up truck through one of the store's side walls and then loaded up on high-dollar athletic shoes. The owner told News 8 it was the fifteenth time thieves broke into his store in the last three months. However, he said this time the damage was worse than ever.

Police have two men in custody and are searching for a third suspect. They nabbed two of the suspects within minutes of the crime thanks to the owner's timely 911 call.

The owner, who asks not to be identified, said he recently installed 26 security cameras inside the store with three different surveillance systems. After a string of costly break-ins at his business, he wanted to monitor the Outlet Sports Shoes 24 hours a day.

The owner said he was able to watch the thieves pull up at his store just after 1 a.m. from monitors at home. He then drove to the store to watch the rest unfold from a safe distance. He said he called 911 after the thieves rammed the back of a pick-up through the side wall and started loading high-dollar sneakers into another car.

By air and on the ground, authorities arrived at the scene, chasing the thieves and catching two. The owner said he believes the same guys are responsible for a string of robberies at his store over the last six months.

The owner said he will have to do extensive repairs as there was electrical and structural damage and merchandise destroyed.

Outlet Sports Shoes is located right off Interstate 35 on East Ledbetter. The owner said without insurance, he never would have been able to stay in business.
