ARLINGTON — A fight between a woman's boyfriend and her ex-boyfriend led to at least one shot fired and a five-hour standoff at an Arlington apartment complex.

According to police, officers were called to the scene at about 7:10 p.m. The caller reported two men arguing over a woman by a pool at the Running Brook Apartments. Once officers arrived at the scene, one of the men became confrontational with officers.

Police reported at least one shot was fired, but have not revealed who fired the shot. The man retreated to an apartment.

Officers said they were able to make contact with him via phone but he was uncooperative.

About five hours after the standoff began, the man exited the apartment and peacefully surrendered.

Residents who live inside the building where the suspect locked himself inside were evacuated. as the standoff was underway. The building houses about eight to 10 units.
