BURLESON — Tuesday was a very special day at school for Burleson first-grader Madison Dingman.
Her class at Norwood Elementary School was taping what they thought was a reading lesson when in walked a soldier — Spc. Aaron Dingman, who hadn't seen his daughter in more than a year.
Dingman was home early from a tour of duty in Iraq, bringing tears to the eyes of teachers and parents as they embraced.
"We did our job and now we're coming home," Spc. Dingman said. "I tried to pick the earliest flight I could to surprise her."
"I was surprised and real happy," Madison told reporters.
Dingman said he had been planning the special return for Madison for the last month.
