DALLAS — Five ambulances were summoned to take patients to three different hospitals Sunday night after a very bad wreck in South Oak Cliff.

The 8:30 p.m. accident involved at least one vehicle, a sedan that was demolished by the impact near the 1100 block of West Ledbetter Drive.

Dallas Fire-Rescue paramedics worked to extract an unknown number of occupants, who were taken to Children's Medical Center, Parkland Memorial Hospital and Methodist Dallas Medical Center.

It was not immediately clear whether any other vehicles were involved in the crash, and the cause is under investigation.

The road surrounding the accident was still closed to traffic at 10 p.m. Sunday.
