DALLAS - Police say racing is the cause of an overnight motorcycle accident.
It happened just after midnight on northbound Central Expressway at Mockingbird Lane in Dallas.
Witnesses told police the two motorcycle riders were going at least 100 mph when one of the drivers lost control.
Three Good Samaritans stopped their cars on the freeway to protect the man from oncoming traffic. While vehicles blocking the injured man were hit, the plan worked and the man was protected until an ambulance was able to arrive at the scene.
"My car is totaled, but what do you do in that sort of situation?" said Mark Mansfield, one of the Good Samaritans. "You can't just drive by or run the gentlemen over. You have to stop."
Police say the man was in stable condition when taken to the hospital.
