HURST — Progress on the $2.5 billion North Tarrant Express project was a welcome sight for drivers in Hurst on Saturday morning.
Workers opened the Hurstview Drive overpass on Airport Freeway two months ahead of schedule.
Completion of the bridge marks the halfway point in construction of the 13.5-mile highway expansion through five cities.
The North Tarrant Express should be done in about two-and-a-half years. The project employs more than 1,200 workers and is designed to reduce congestion on Airport Freeway west of the Highway 121 interchange, west to Loop 820 at Interstate 35W.
