EULESS — Thousands of dollars in school booster funds have gone missing in Euless, and district officials have asked police to investigate whether a school employee stole the cash.

According to a police report obtained by News 8, Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD officials contacted Euless detectives Tuesday with evidence that a secretary stole between $5,000 and $10,000 from fundraising accounts at Central Junior High School over the last year.

The money was supposed to be deposited.

According to the report, the district fired the employee this month following an internal audit.

News 8 has also learned that Bedford police have opened a separate investigation into claims the same worker also fraudulently used a district credit card.

HEB district spokeswoman Judy Ramos said Wednesday that no booster clubs would have to suffer the losses.

The former employee has not been arrested or charged.
