DALLAS — Neighbors have been put on alert while police search for suspects in the robbery of an Auto Zone store at Plano and Walnut Hill.

A chase began after the suspects robbed the store and fled the scene in a car Tuesday evening. Officers said the suspects fired upon a squad car as it pursued the getaway vehicle. A security guard was also fired upon.

The chase went onto eastbound LBJ Freeway and then around Barnes Bridge and La Prada near the Dallas Athletic Club on Interstate 635. Authorities lost the vehicle, which was found abandoned in the 4300 block of Motley Drive.

Eastfield Community College was placed on lockdown for more than an hour while police searched for the suspects.

Dallas, Garland and Mesquite police are involved in the search.

There have been no injuries reported. It's unknown how many suspects are involved in the robbery, but police say they were wearing all black.
