When Christmas decorations went missing from five homes in Aledo this month, Parker County authorities suspected theft, but weren’t sure if the same person was responsible.
Surveillance footage caught this so-called ‘Grinch that is stealing Christmas (decorations)' –– Sheriff’s words –– in the act. After local media outlets picked up the story and published the photos, it didn’t take long for authorities to catch up with her.
Sheriff Larry Fowler says their suspect is Dana Brock, a 43-year-old Aledo woman.
Fowler says the department got a handful of tips that pointed deputies to Brock. She’s accused of stealing decorations from homes in the 300 block of West Gate, the 200 and 300 blocks of Howard Way, the 200 block of Mockingbird Lane and the 100 block of Deer Creek Drive.
Fowler said they found some of the contraband at her home in the 100 block of Rim Rock, where she was arrested. Brock admitted to the thefts when questioned. They also found stolen property that had nothing to do with Christmas.
But Fowler says the problem is bigger than just the thefts –– “Going onto someone’s property at 3 a.m. could have serious consequences and the outcome could be deadly.”
