GRAND PRAIRIE -- One person was killed and two others injured after an accident along Highway 360 in Grand Prairie.
Lokuekim "Jessy" Kipasa, 18, was killed when he was thrown from the vehicle in the roll-over crash. It happened near the intersection of Webb Lynn around 3:00 a.m. Wednesday.
Two passengers were thrown from the SUV; Kipasa died at the scene, and the other, Donte Pierce, 21, was taken by helicopter to an area hospital.
The injured driver, Ashlee Straker, 21, survived the crash and managed to walk about a mile to his home, police said. He was contacted by police at his home and taken to John Peter Smith Hospital for his injuries.
The call for help came from a passer-by who saw debris in the road.
The three were in a Jeep Cherokee and returning from a party when the vehicle veered off the road and rolled multiple times before coming to rest in a field. Investigators say speed and alcohol may have been factors.
It was the 10th traffic fatality in Grand Prairie this year.
