NAVARRO COUNTY- Sheriff’s Deputies in Navarro County said they are responding to an uptick in minor car accidents as the day progresses.

The roads are slick with a layer of ice forming on the roads from drivers packing down the snow that has already fallen.

Police, as far north as Ennis and as far south as Corsicana, are experiencing the same thing.

They said drivers have called for help after sliding off slick roads.

Along Interstate 45 in Rice, drivers have been noticeably absent throughout the morning.

The only drivers daring to brave the heavy snowfall were 18-wheelers, but many of them even pulled over after stalling out on Interstate 45 ramps. About five inches of snow have fallen in Rice, with a solid inch of slush underneath the snow.

Emergency responders said they are busy as the day continues. They have responded to no serious car crashes.
