ARLINGTON — Arlington firefighters made a grisly discovery on Interstate 30 near Fielder Road early Saturday morning: A man's body in the middle of the highway.
Police said the firefighters were returning from a call at 4:10 a.m. when they observed a car swerve to avoid an object in the roadway. It was a man who appeared to have been run over.
His identity was not released while family members were notified.
Investigators determined that the car seen swerving by firefighters did not hit the man on the highway, so they are still looking for a hit-and-run driver.
Based on evidence, police believe the suspect was driving a late model Volkswagen Jetta. It will likely have extensive damage to the front of the car, including the grill and grill emblem.
If you have any information about a suspect, contact Arlington police at 817-459-5600.
The westbound lanes of I-30 were closed for several hours as evidence was gathered.
