DALLAS - A tipster called Dallas police Thursday after finding human remains along the edge of the waters of Lake Ray Hubbard at the Elgin B. Robertson Park near Cooke Drive.
Authorities confirmed that they were human remains, and say the discovery could be related to a Rowlett homicide that took place a few months ago.
"We've been back today doing a search with divers and the helicopter and officers walking the beach, looking for any additional evidence," said Captain Jack Bragg, Dallas Police Department.
The search for clues began with Dallas officers wading in the shallow waters of the lake. A Texas Parks and Wildlife boat aided the search with sonar. Authorities were eager to find all possible clues and evidence before heavy traffic hits the lake for Labor Day weekend.
The Dallas County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed that part of a human limb was among the remains. Authorities also found part of a gun. While police said they believe that gun is linked to another crime, it is not likely connected to the remains discovery.
