Shannon O'Rourk Griffin remains in the Sedgwick County, Kansas jail, accused of murder. The 52-year-old woman with a Granbury, Texas address was arrested by the Kansas Highway Patrol after she allegedly called her husband to tell him about a shooting.

Court documents say Griffin shot her husband's mistress three times in the face last Friday at her home in suburban Kansas City after Roscoe Griffin decided to proceed with a divorce.

Affidavits say the couple went through counseling in Kansas. After a Friday session, Shannon Griffin told her husband she wanted to protect him from the "evil woman."

When Griffin was arrested in Kansas, she told the highway patrol she had two handguns in her car.

Roscoe Griffin said his wife called him several times to say she had shot Dr. Irina Puscariu, and wanted to know if she was dead.

Puscariu's 86-year-old mother witnessed the shooting. Her attorney told News 8 she moved from Romania to be with her daughter, who was a psychiatrist. Now she wants to return to Romania as soon as the murder case is cleared.

Roscoe has a decorated history with the Air Force, and currently teaches a junior ROTC program in Lyons, Kansas.

He and his wife lived near Houston for decades, and both worked for NASA.

Current neighbors near Pecan Plantation in Granbury said the Griffins moved in to the gated community about a year ago, and no one there knew them well.

Shannon Griffin could be transferred to the Clay County jail in Missouri to face capital murder charges.
