DALLAS - Take-offs and landings were suspended at Dallas Love Field after a small fire broke out in the FAA Air Traffic Control Tower Thursday afternoon.
It happened about 4 p.m. on the fifth level of the control tower, according to the FAA.
A spokesman for Dallas Fire-Rescue said firefighters extinguished the small fire after electrical equipment overheated.
An FAA spokesperson said air traffic controllers evacuated the tower for more than a half hour before returning to resume flights.
Seven flights were diverted during the fire.
Southwest Airlines told News 8 that 10 flights left Love Field about an hour late.
Love Field officials Tweeted: "We're ok, don't worry! Check with your airline for any info about delays."
