Electric Reliability Council of Texas, ERCOT, warned of possible blackouts Thursday, but so far no one has had their electricity shut off.

Tens of thousands of North Texans were left without power during last week's winter storm.

ERCOT issued a statement Wednesday saying the rolling blackouts could happen again today.

The agency that oversees the state’s power grid warned if customers did not conserve power, blackouts would happen. For the second time this month, the grid set a record for winter peak demand.

An ONCOR official spoke with News 8 and found the company has not been instructed to start any type of emergency actions.

"During emergencies, you just won’t get a lot of notice," Megan Wright, ONCOR."The moment ERCOT requires us to start our plan; we’re going to have to. We will do our best to let our customers know through our communications team- through social media, through our website, through our call center. We will do everything we can to make sure people are prepared."

The peak time for blackouts was from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Thursday. The next peak time for electricity use is 4 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Wright said last week’s outages were necessary to prevent a statewide emergency. She said the moment the red flag was raised, the outages started.
