DENTON - A three-month-old infant died in southwest Denton after being knocked from her bassinet Sunday afternoon by a sibling, causing the mattress to fall on the infant, said Denton police Sgt. Jeryl Golden.
The children’s mother was taking a nap when the toddler knocked over the baby’s bed, he said. When the mother awoke and discovered the infant unconscious and not breathing, she called emergency officials, Golden said.
The infant was transported to Denton Regional Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.
The medical examiner’s office had not issued a cause of death Sunday evening.
