DALLAS -- Dallas Sheriff's Department Sergeant Kenneth D. Riggins was killed in an overnight crash while off duty Tuesday.
Riggins was the passenger in a pickup truck that struck a tree near Quinlan, Texas, according to a department press release. The driver, a teen relative, suffered minor injuries.
The sergeant most recently served in the department's strategic planning section, and has served 20 years with the Dallas Sheriff's Department. He began his career as a detention service officer in February 1992.
