DALLAS – Dallas police fatally shot a man they say was carrying a shotgun in a Pleasant Grove street and raised the weapon at officers.
The officer-involved shooting occurred Thursday at Castlefield Drive and Saint Augustine Road in Pleasant Grove.
Police say around 3:40 p.m. they received a call from a witness who said they had seen the suspect, Robert Williams, 37, with the gun. Officers drove down the street and found the individual with a double-barreled shotgun and gave loud verbal commands to drop the weapon, but Williams didn't comply.
Police spokesman Sgt. Warren Mitchell said when police walked forward, Williams raised his weapon and officers returned fire, striking the suspect.
Williams, who had multiple previous drug charges, was transported to Baylor Medical Center, where he later died.
No officers were injured.
