DALLAS -- Police have arrested a man for allegedly trying to kidnap a little girl Monday night from an apartment complex.

According to Dallas police, David Vincent Rodriguez, 41, walked up to a six-year-old girl who was playing at a complex in the 9800 block of Dale Crest Drive near Burnet Elementary.

According to court documents, Rodriguez grabbed the little girl by her arm and told her, “I have chocolate for you. We are going to Chuck E. Cheese.” Police say Rodriguez dragged her for 20 feet before she was able to get free and run away.  She told her parents who called police.

Police say they later found Rodriguez trying to camouflage himself inside an apartment trash bin with leaves and garbage on his body. When they searched him, police say they found, “children’s flowered underwear in front side pocket area of Rodriguez jacket.”

Rodriguez was charged with two counts of aggravated kidnapping. His bond was set at $251,000.

The suspect has another pending case in Dallas from March where he was arrested for indecency with a child. Police say he fondled another 6-year-old girl at a store in the 2200 Block of South Buckner Blvd.

He has also been accused in previous indecency with a child cases, though charges in those cases were later dropped.

Rodriguez is currently being held on outstanding traffic warrants out of Arlington. Potential child victims must be forensically interviewed before a formal case can be filed against the suspect for the kidnapping and indecency with a child charges, according to Dallas police.
