DALLAS – A 7-Eleven gas station near Inwood and Lovers Lane sold a patron a $1 million Powerball ticket, state lottery officials say.

By noon on Thursday, the winner had not claimed the prize. Word spread quickly among customers who were just learning the news.

"Wish I had bought that ticket," said one man, laughing as he drove away in a work van. There was a similar reaction from two men who walked into the store moments later.

"I usually come here.  Then, I end up finding out the money was right here. I was like, I should have known and should have bought the ticket, you know?"

The winning ticket in Dallas was one of four state-wide that matched 5 out of 5 numbers in the recent Powerball drawing. While no one in the state won the humungous $550 million top prize, tickets worth $1 million were sold in Houston, Humble, and San Antonio.

In Dallas, the store owner was just learning the news Thursday morning. He said he believes he may have assisted the winner as he picked the numbers.  However, who bought the ticket is still a mystery.

Across the state, more than 600,000 tickets purchased won some amount of money.
