McKINNEY -- A Texas Department of Public Safety trooper is in the hospital Friday night following an accident on Highway 380.
According to DPS, the trooper was traveling eastbound on Highway 380 near CR 330 when he saw a traffic violator traveling the other direction.
He performed a U-turn in his patrol car and activated his lights. As he completed the turn, a pickup truck pulled out in front of him. The trooper hit the truck, sending it airborne.
The trooper was trapped in his vehicle and had to be rescued by EMS.
The driver of the pickup and the trooper were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
