There are only two houses on Fir Tree Lane in Fort Worth, so you might think it would be relatively easy to find the right address.
But when workers arrived to dig up a pipeline, a mistake was still made. They ripped out the concrete driveway on the wrong house.
On Wednesday afternoon, workers did what they could to repair the damage done yesterday. A new crew arrived to begin fixing the problem caused by other subcontractors who worked on the wrong driveway by mistake.
"Of course, I'm upset because my car is stuck in the driveway," homeowner Chihye Cho said. "It's inconvenienced me. But I've got two small children and, if it wasn't raining, this is where they'd play."
That was her reaction after workers sent out to dig up her neighbor's driveway came to hers instead. Workers were trying to fix her neighbor's plumbing problem by reaching clogged lines under that driveway.
The hole made it nearly impossible for Cho to get her car out of the garage.
On Wednesday, luck was still not with the builder, Bowen Family Homes. The contractors said it was too cold to pour concrete, so they built a wooden platform to temporarily patch the driveway and make it usable.
They hope to pour the concrete Thursday and fix the driveway. Meanwhile, at the home with the original plumbing problem, workers are still trying to find that pipe and fix it. The homeowner said it could be another two or three days before they have working toilets.
