DALLAS — Dyrk Burcie's family kept their promise of keeping his "Dyrk Strong" message alive with a race at Dallas Fair Park in his honor.

Dyrk lost his battle with cancer two months ago.

The four-year-old was the son of a Dallas firefighter, and his story inspired a worldwide photo project. Firefighters, professional athletes, and even astronauts shared the "Dyrk Strong" message in pictures.

Saturday's race was called the Color in Motion 5K. Participants were bombarded with colored powder as they ran through Fair Park.

The idea: To create a moving rainbow.

Fifteen percent of the money raised from Saturday's event was donated to a medical fund for the Burcie family.
