There's good news for commuters routinely stuck in traffic on I-635 in Dallas. LBJ Infrastructure Group announced Friday that financing for the LBJ Express has been completed ahead of schedule.
The LBJ Express project will overhaul Interstate 635 from I-35 to Central Expressway. As many as six express, managed toll lanes will be added across 13 miles of the freeway, in a multi-level highway system. Drivers will be able to choose whether they want to use free lanes or toll lanes.
The $2.7 billion project is being primarily financed with private capital. Construction is scheduled to start in early 2011, with completion planned by 2016.
