STAFFORD, Texas – A Stafford police officer is in serious but stable condition after she was shot during a traffic stop early Saturday.
According to the Stafford Police Department, the incident happened after Officer Ann Carrizales pulled over a silver Nissan Altima for traffic violations in the 12700 block of Murphy Road just before 4 a.m. One of the three men in the car shot her in the chest and leg.
Carrizales was still able to get back in her cruiser and chase after the car, police said. The pursuit ended in the area of Woodfair and Club Creek in Houston.
Units from the Missouri City Police Department assisted Stafford PD with establishing a perimeter and helping detain the suspected shooter.
Police said Carrizales was then taken to the Memorial Hermann Hospital. Her ballistic vest without a doubt saved her life.
