ARLINGTON -- Police in Arlington revealed early Wednesday morning that news coverage and tips helped lead investigators to a suspect in the shooting of an Arlington store clerk in late February.

According to jail records, police arrested 21-year-old Jacob Galen Everett on a capital murder charge late Tuesday evening.

"Detectives were provided information that led them to a vehicle that matched the description of one seen at the store at the time of the shooting," said Tiara Richard, an Arlington police spokeswoman.

When authorities tracked down Everett, investigators said they discovered he was inside the Red Wing Shoe store on Feb. 25, the day store manager Randy Pacheco, 23, was murdered.

"Based on information gathered from the suspect and evidence collected at his home, Everett was arrested," Richard said.

Pacheco's father said his family is "happy as can be," and didn't expect an arrest so quickly.

Red Wing Shoe offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the case.

As of early Wednesday morning, bail wasn't set for Everett.
