UPDATE 9/17: Jordan Cartree, the two-year-old boy found in a hot car last Thursday, has died according to the Dallas County Medical Examiner's office.

9/13: ANNA -- A Collin County father was arrested Friday after his two-year-old boy was found in a hot car the day before.

The Collin County sheriff's deputies arrested Joshua Cartree, 32, around 5 p.m. for injury to a child. He is being held on $100,000 bond.

Cartree called 911 Thursday and deputies found the boy unconscious but breathing in the back of a car at a residence in the 9300 block of Sam Rayburn Pkwy in Anna. It is unknown how long the child was in the car. He was taken to the hospital by air ambulance.

News 8 learned Friday the boy's family had previously been investigated by Child Protective Services, and the case was closed this week. Someone passing by the home in July found the two-year-old wandering the property alone. CPS had been working with the family on better supervision.

CPS said the family has refused to talk to an investigator after the boy was left in the car, and they are seeking temporary custody of the two-year-old.

The boy remains at Children's Medical Center in critical but stable condition.
