PHOENIX -- Pilots aborted the take-off of an American Airlines flight bound for Dallas-Fort Worth after a problem with one of the plane's wheels.
Thursday evening, Flight 592 began its takeoff on a runway at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport when pilots noticed the problem.
They stopped takeoff procedures and the MD-80 plane skidded to a stop.
"We kind of revved up and then kind of skidded to a stop," said Darcy Harrell, a passenger from Fort Worth. "That's never happened before and I travel every week, kind of scary."
Mechanics towed the plane back to the gate where passengers were allowed back into the airport's terminal.
None of the 140 passengers or crew was hurt.
