JACINTO CITY, Texas -- A 15-year-old boy was charged with murder early Wednesday after his mom was found fatally stabbed in her Jacinto City bed.
A police spokesman told WFAA's sister station, KHOU 11 News, the woman was stabbed multiple times at her home in the 11100 block of Verano Street. The first 911 call came in shortly after 3 a.m.
Witnesses told police they saw the woman’s son running from his home screaming shortly before paramedics arrived.
“Her father called me and told me that there had been a tragedy,” said family friend Arthur Zunnga. “He said his grandson had killed his daughter. I said, ‘unbelievable.’”
The police chief said the woman’s son was the only other person home at the time.
The teen allegedly confessed to family members that he stabbed his mother. He was taken away from the home by officers, who bagged his hands to preserve any evidence.
The chief described the victim’s wounds as “defensive wounds," saying she was stabbed at least 10 times.
Authorities did not identify the woman or her son, but those who knew the family said the victim was 31 years old.
