GRAND PRAIRIE - Reckless driving led to a four-vehicle crash that killed two and injured two others late Thursday night in Grand Prairie, police said.

Witnesses told police a driver driving at a high rate of speed lost control of a gray Dodge after coming upon a lane closure at a construction zone around 10:30 p.m. Thursday on Interstate 30 at Belt Line Road.

According to the witnesses, the driver sped through construction barrels and lost control of the Dodge while braking in an attempt to avoid crashing that sent the vehicle into a spin, hitting the back of a truck, which ruptured the gas tank of the Dodge.

The Dodge struck another car as it continued to spin and didn't come to a stop until it was hit by an SUV.

The Dodge became engulfed in flames, killing the trapped driver and passenger inside. The names of the victims have not been released.

Two others injured in the crash were transported to Dallas Methodist and are expected to recover.

Police said the driver of the SUV that struck the Dodge may have been intoxicated and could face DWI charges.
