DALLAS -- One person was shot and killed outside a Red Roof Inn Sunday, the second shooting incident at a Dallas motel in two days.

Dallas police say Jeronimo Daza, 35, and a witness went to pick up Daza's girlfriend. A dispute occurred between Daza and his girlfriend's ex-boyfriend. The ex-boyfriend shot Daza and the witness, and Daza later died.

The witness, who has not been identified, is being treated for a gunshot wound to the chest.

Sunday's shooting occurred around 4 p.m. at the Red Roof Inn at 13685 North Central Expressway.

Detectives are in the process of obtaining an arrest warrant for the suspect.

On Saturday morning, three people were found shot dead at a Motel 6 at 13185 North Central Expressway. Police have released very little information besides the victim's names in that case.

The investigations into both shootings are ongoing, but police believe the locations of the shootings, which were about a block apart, are a coincidence.
