DALLAS (AP) — A former Dallas firefighter who robbed a bank and tipped a teller $20 from the loot has been sentenced to nearly four years in prison.
A federal judge in Dallas on Wednesday sentenced 37-year-old Jesus Ventura of Irving to 46 months behind bars. Ventura in September pleaded guilty to bank robbery.
Police say a Chase bank branch was robbed last April 10 and Ventura, who was still a firefighter but off-duty, was arrested minutes later. An undisclosed amount of cash was recovered.
Dallas Fire-Rescue officials fired Ventura a week after his arrest. At the time Ventura told a judge that he had bipolar disorder issues.
