Money Advice: What newbies to North Texas real estate need to know

New to North Texas real estate market? Here's what you need to know

Are you new to the North Texas real estate market?  Are you from another community considering a move to D/FW?

Candy Evans, publisher and founder of real estate blog candysdirt.com shares insights you should consider.

“It’s very, very hot!” said Evans.  With a three-month supply on the market, Evans said you’ll want to check out off-market listings.

“You do need a real estate agent because you will probably have to find a home before it goes on the market.”

Where do you start in your search for an agent?  Evans suggested checking out several before making your final choice.

“You will need a good real estate agent. A full-time real estate agent, someone who is very, very connected and works very hard for you.”

In fact, Evans suggested interview at least 5 agents to start with.

There are plenty of great neighborhoods and affordable homes to choose from in North Texas, but keep in mind the average home price is near $200,000.

“We are getting more expensive, but we are still really, really affordable compared to many other markets in the United States.”
