Your Health Matters

Thanks for checking out my corner of the WFAA.com world. It's important for you to know a little bit about the people you invite into your home every evening.

I came to WFAA in 2000 after six years in Cleveland, Ohio. It was like coming home; my husband is from Beaumont, and I'm from Shreveport, Louisiana. Not only is Dallas a nice place between our two families, but the news operation is respected across the nation. Working for WFAA was always my professional goal.

I anchor the 5:00 News with Jeff Brady and report on family issues. But I've covered just about every beat... education, medical and police- in my years as a reporter. I went to Cleveland for the challenge of a talk show and morning news cast. It was great fun, but I'm glad to be closer to family.

I juggle my work time with being a wife and mom. My husband and I have two daughters. It's important for us to teach them civic responsibility; my community involvement revolves around charities for children. I am currently a Trustee on the board of The Family Place in Dallas, an advisory board member for Forrest Outreach Foundation and a Gala advisory member for the Collin County Children's Advocacy Center.

I also volunteer for my church and support events of The Classics of Plano.

That said, it's also important to spend quality "down" time with my family. We like to travel and be outdoors together. I also like to ski, read and help my husband in remodeling projects.

I've received a few awards and Emmy nominations along the way, but the most recent award is something I'm proud of. American Women in Radio and Television's Broadcast News Personality of the Year. It's nice to be appreciated for a smile every now and again- especially when the news is particularly harsh.

By the way, my co-anchor Jeff Brady and I are OLD friends. We worked together at KTBS in Shreveport, Louisiana in the early 90's. Working together now is truly a highlight of my job.

Thanks for watching us. I'd love to hear from you sometime.
